Effective 10 August 2026Ramble is a voice-notes app made by Robert Bye. The short version: your notes are yours. Ramble has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no way for anyone — including me — to read what you say.What Ramble collects
Nothing. Ramble collects no personal data, sends nothing to me, and has no analytics or tracking of any kind. There are no third-party services or SDKs in the app, and no ads.Your notes
Recordings are transcribed on your device as you speak, and the audio is then discarded — it is never stored or transmitted. Titles, summaries, tags, to-dos, and answers to questions you ask of your notes are generated by Apple Intelligence. This processing happens on your device; where Apple Intelligence uses Apple's Private Cloud Compute, that processing is operated by Apple under Apple's own privacy commitments, and I never receive or have any access to your content in either case.iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, your notes sync between your devices through the private iCloud database attached to your own Apple Account. That data lives in your iCloud, is protected by Apple, and is not accessible to me or anyone else. iCloud is governed by Apple's privacy policy.The microphone
Ramble uses the microphone only while you are dictating a note, and you can see when it is listening. Audio is transcribed on the device and then discarded.Siri, Shortcuts, and the Action Button
If you start a note with Siri, Shortcuts, or the Action Button, that interaction is handled by Apple on your device under Apple's privacy policy. Ramble receives only the instruction to start or save a note.Your control
You can export every note as plain text, delete any note, or erase everything, at any time, from inside the app. Erasing removes notes from your device and from your iCloud sync. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device.Children
Ramble collects no data from anyone, including children.Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Since Ramble collects nothing, there is very little that could change.Contact
